Sir G. HAMILTONasked the Minister of Labour if he will state what is the estimated number of men employed, directly or indirectly, by the placing of an order for £1,000,000 for road work, for engineering work, and for shipbuilding, respectively?
§ Sir H. BETTERTONIt has been estimated that an expenditure of £1,000,000 on road construction provides employment, direct and indirect, for about 4,000 men for a year. I regret that I have no similar figures in respect of engineering or shipbuilding.
