HC Deb 04 May 1931 vol 252 c40W
Mr. WEST RUSSELL

asked the First Commissioner of Works the total rents paid for Labour Exchange buildings in the Tyneside area, with the different charges in each case; and whether these figures show an increase on those for 1925?

Mr. LANSBURY

The total of the rents paid for Employment Exchange premises in the Tyneside area is£4,503 per annum at present, as compared with£3,034 in 1925. These figures

  1. (a) do not include the rents of Branch Offices which are provided by the Branch Managers, and
  2. (b) in some cases may include rates and such services as lighting, heating and cleaning, the amounts in respect of which are not separately stated in the tenancy agreements.

I am sending the hon. Member for his private information a detailed statement showing how the totals are made up.
