HC Deb 29 June 1931 vol 254 c900W
Mr. HANNON

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether any measures have been adopted during the past few years for the advertisement of British manufactured articles in India, Burma and Ceylon, either in consultation with or apart from British trade organisations; and, if not, whether any scheme of this nature is under consideration?

Mr. GILLETT

The answer to both parts of the hon. Member's question is in the negative. Except in so far as publicity given at home and overseas to the British Industries Fair can be regarded as the direct advertisement of goods manufactured in the United Kingdom, the Department of Overseas Trade has no funds for the purpose mentioned.
