HC Deb 02 June 1931 vol 253 c37W
Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether his Department will consider setting up an official panel of translators for the convenience of business houses who wish to make their approaches in the language of various markets, but who cannot afford to maintain a staff of linguists?

Mr. GILLETT

Where special difficulties are experienced, the Department of Overseas Trade is always prepared to assist with advice, but having regard to the existing commercial facilities for work of this kind, I do not consider that it is either necessary or convenient to establish an official service.
