SMITHAccording to estimates prepared by the National Federation of Iron and Steel Manufacturers, the world production of pig iron in the years 1929 and 1930 amounted to 97.23 million tons and 78.65 million tons, respectively; the estimated production of steel ingots and castings in the same years was 118.3 million tons and 93.0 million tons respectively.
