HC Deb 10 December 1931 vol 260 c2071W
Dr. PETERS

asked the Minister of Transport how many appeals from the traffic commissioners have come before him; how many have been allowed by him; and in how many cases he has ordered the applicants to pay the costs of the appeal?

Mr. PYBUS

Up to 5th December the number of effective appeals lodged was 667, of which 154 have been withdrawn. Of the remainder, decisions have been arrived at in 178 eases, 40 of which involve orders on the traffic commissioners reversing or modifying their decisions. Costs incurred by me in connection with the inquiries into these appeals will be recovered in 118 cases, including six where the appeals were withdrawn during the course of the inquiry.
