§ Mr. A. BEVANasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the approximate amount of money invested in Manchuria by British subjects and the value of British financial interests in the Peking-Mukden Railway?
§ Mr. EDENAs regards the first part of the hon. Member's question, I regret that I am unable to form an estimate. As regards the Peking-Mukden Railway, the outstanding amount of construction loans from British sources is approximately £1,000,000. There are also certain other loans of British origin which are collaterally secured on the surplus earnings of the railway.
