Mr. MACLEANasked the President of the Board of Education, in view of the computation that one adult finds employment for every two young persons taken out of industry, how many adults would be absorbed in industry by raising the school-leaving age to 15?
§ Mr. LEES-SMITHIt is estimated that on the raising of the school-leaving age to 15, approximately 400,000 additional children would be retained in the schools in England and Wales. I am afraid that it is not possible to give any specific figures as to the probable effect of this on adult employment.
