§ Major GLYNasked the President of the Board of Trade how much timber has been imported into the United Kingdom as part of the trade agreement with the Soviet Union; and if any representations have been received from any Dominion or foreign Government to the effect that this quantity has in any way curtailed or reduced the price of timber from other countries.
§ Mr. GILLETTFigures of imports into this country of timber from Soviet Russia were given on 30th October in the reply to a question by the lion. and gallant Member for Newbury (Brigadier-General Brown), a copy of which I am sending to the hon. and gallant Member. The temporary Commercial Agreement between this country and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is a most-favoured nation agreement on the usual lines, and contains no provision of the kind implied in the first part of the question. The reply to the second part of the question is in the negative.
