HC Deb 21 May 1930 vol 239 c411W
Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if his Department has evolved any scheme for the alternative employment of those dockyard workers who will be affected by the naval reductions recently approved; and, if so, whether he will state its nature?

Mr. ALEXANDER

The need has not yet arisen for evolving any new scheme for providing alternative work in the Royal dockyards, there being sufficient work to keep existing numbers employed for the present. The matter will continue to receive close attention.
