asked the Lord Privy Seal how many schemes have been submitted to date on behalf of ports for assistance under the Development (Loan, Guarantees and Grants) Act; how many have been approved; and what number is still under examination?

17 schemes in respect of harbours, docks, etc., have been submitted to the Development (Public Utility) Advisory Committee for assistance under Part I of the Development (Loan Guarantees and Grants) Act, 1929. Of these 13 have been approved for grant and four are under consideration. 52 schemes have been submitted to the Unemployment Grants Committee under Part II of the Act. Grants have been sanctioned in respect of 28 of these schemes, eight have been rejected or withdrawn and 16 are under consideration.
