asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the quantity of heavy steel produced in February last and of wrought iron for the same month; and what were the corresponding figures in 1914, 1921, 1926 and 1927?

The quantities of finished steel products and of finished wrought iron produced in Great Britain in February, 1921, 1926, 1927 and 1930, so far as the information is available from the returns of the National Iron and Steel Federation, were as follow:

(a) Includes the following descriptions:—Forgings, plates, sheets, tinplates, galvanised sheets, rails, sleepers and fishplates, sections, girders, joists, beams, rounds, squares, flats, wire rods, hoops and strips, cold rolled steel strip and spring steel.
(b) Excludes cold rolled steel strip.
(c) Excludes the output of tinplates, particulars for which are not yet available (in 1929 the average monthly output was 73,300 tons).
