HC Deb 06 May 1930 vol 238 cc765-6W
Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade what are the duties of the International Tariffs Bureau; where are its offices situated; and what proportion of the total cost is represented by the contribution of the British Government?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

The function of the International Tariffs Bureau is to prepare and to distribute to contributory countries translations in five languages of the Customs tariffs of all countries and of modifications thereof. Its office is at Brussels. The subscription payable by the United Kingdom is 5,159 gold francs, or rather over £200 per annum, which represents about 4 per cent. of the total income of the Bureau.
