§ Sir H. HOPEasked the Minister of Agriculture if any cases of mosaic or other leaf-potato diseases have been found in this country during the last three years; and, if so, what steps he has taken to prevent the importation of such diseases in foreign supplies?
§ Mr. N. BUXTONThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative; mosaic and other virus diseases of the potato have been present in this country for well over a century. I am advised that the risk of increased loss 293W of crop due to those diseases through the importation of foreign potatoes is negligible.
