HC Deb 04 February 1930 vol 234 c1712W
Mr. LOVAT-FRASER

asked the First Commissioner of Works if he is aware that a fire broke out at the Tower of London on 23rd January; what was the cause of the fire; and what provision is made in the Tower against fire?

Mr. LANSBURY

A small fire broke out in the garrison cookhouse in the Flint Tower, and was easily extinguished. It is supposed that it originated from some hot ashes which fell into a coke bin. Steps have been taken to prevent a recurrence. The fire precautions are elaborate and adequate.
