HC Deb 04 February 1930 vol 234 c1706W
Mr. A. M. SAMUEL

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether there has yet been a reorganisation of the Patent Office so as to enable the officials to deal with applications for patents with less delay; and whether there has been since 25th November last an increase of the examining staff for the purpose of expediting the performance of the work?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

An experimental reorganisation of the Patent Office was inaugurated in September last. The numbers of the examining staff, which had been increased by 46 since beginning of last year, have been further increased since 25th November last by two, and an open competitive examination is to be held next April with a view to a still further increase.
