HC Deb 04 February 1930 vol 234 cc1691-2W
Mr. SCOTT

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what advice he has received from his legal advisers as to the legality of the continuing of loans by the Department of Agriculture to successors of landholders who have removed; and whether he will now instruct the Department of Agriculture to continue such loans to incoming landholders and to reverse their practice of letting such holdings on their own estates at equipped rents?

Mr. W. ADAMSON

I am advised that legal questions involved present; considerable difficulty, and can only be placed upon a satisfactory footing by means of amending legislation.
