HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 cc2009-11W
Sir R. GOWER

asked the Minister of Health what local authorities have applied for grants from the Unemployment Relief Fund; what the respective amounts the subject of such applications are; the works such local authorities respectively propose to put in hand; and the number of men for whom employment will be found in connection with such works?

Miss BONDFIELD

Since 1st June, 1929, 4,773 schemes of work for the relief of unemployment, of a total estimated cost of £84,500,000, have been submitted to the Unemployment Grants Committee by local authorities and other statutory bodies eligible to make application for grant under the Development (Loan Guarantees and Grants) Act, 1929. I am afraid that detailed particulars of such applications cannot be supplied without an undue amount of labour. The Committee have prepared a report dealing with their work up to the 30th August last, which will shortly be presented to Parliament.
