HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 c2011W
Rear-Admiral SUETER

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will, in the interests of economy, make a fresh examination of the office accommodation of his Department for the purpose of inviting a transfer into the War Office of staff from cognate Government offices as has been done by the Board of Trade, which has resulted in the transfer of 170 persons from the Mercantile Marine Department, Great Smith Street, into the building at Storey's Gate?

Mr. SHAW

Arrangements already exist for continuous examination of the allocation of the accommodation in the War Office to ensure that it is used as economically as possible. It is recognised that it would be very desirable to bring into the building certain of the branches of the War Office at present housed outside, but it is impossible to do this at present by any concentration at all practicable.
