HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 cc2017-8W
Sir H. CAUTLEY

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the estimated number of persons who will be thrown out of work by the non-renewal of the Dyestuffs Act, 1920?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

I have seen no estimate of the kind, and I am persuaded that any temporary dislocation that may be occasioned by the lapsing of the Act will be more than balanced by the improvement in the textile industries.

Major WOOD

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has any information showing to what extent during the operation of the Dyestuffs Act textiles have been sent abroad for the purpose of being dyed?

Mr. GRAHAM

I regret that the answer is in the negative.
