§ Mr. MANDERasked the Home Secretary what steps the League of Nations propose to take with respect to the firms mentioned in the Report on the work of the Advisory Committee on Traffic in Opium and other Dangerous Drugs of the League of Nations, held at Geneva in. January and February this year which have been proved to be engaged in the illicit traffic and smuggling of narcotic drugs?
§ Mr. CLYNESThe Report of the Advisory Committee has not yet been considered by the Council, and I am unable to say what steps will be taken by the League in the matter. The hon. Member will appreciate that the responsibility for putting a stop to the activities of these firms rests on the Governments of the countries in which they carry on their business, and I presume the Council and the Assembly, when the Report of the committee comes before them, will wish to know what action has been taken.
