HC Deb 31 October 1929 vol 231 cc352-3W
Mr. MACPHERSON

asked the Minister of Transport whether, seeing that in the agreement with the new MacBrayne Com- pany it was guaranteed that they should at least maintain the present services on the West Coast of Scotland, he is aware that the new company proposes to omit a call at Applecross on the return journey of the steamer from Stornoway; and, since it has been the custom of this steamer to call at Applecross on this journey for the last 20 years, what action he proposes to take?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

I have already agreed after careful consideration and consultation with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scot-land that the hazardous call of the Stornoway mail steamer at Applecross between 3 and 4 o'clock a.m. should be discontinued during the winter months.
