HC Deb 31 October 1929 vol 231 c333W
Sir N. MOORE

asked the Lord Privy Seal to state the quantity and quality of the cargo of coal that he took to Canada; the price f.o.b.; the freight and other charges incurred; the amount realised in Canada; the nett profit to the Treasury; the corresponding details of his purchase of Canadian coal; and the results obtained from his proposal to mix Canadian soft coal with British coal?

Mr. THOMAS

The coal sent to Canada this summer—about 900 tons of Welsh locomotive coal—was sent on private account and no Government money is involved. Similarly, the Canadian coal brought back to this country has been supplied without charge. Experiments are still in progress on the mixing of this coal with British coal.
