asked the Secretary of State for India whether Mr. G. S. Hardy, Collector of Customs at Calcutta, who was appointed by the Government of India to examine the possibility of substituting a system of specific duties for the existing general duty on imported cotton piece-goods, has completed his inquiry; and if the Government of India has received his proposals?
