HC Deb 14 November 1929 vol 231 c2241W
Major POLE

asked the Secretary of State for India whether the strike of employés at the Burma Oil Company's depot at Budge Budge is still in progress; and, if so, whether he will give information as to the prospects of a settlement of this dispute and as to the number of men at present involved?

Mr. BENN

I have no information later than 17th October. On that date the strike had not ended. About 4,100 operatives struck work on 21st August. Some have since resumed. I have no information as to the prospects of a settlement.
