HC Deb 13 November 1929 vol 231 cc2048-9W
Brigadier-General WRIGHT

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs when it is expected that the Anglo-Mexican Special Claims Convention will complete its work; and whether any payment has yet been made by the Mexican Government on account of any claims admitted by this Commission?

Mr. HENDERSON

As regards the first part of the question His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Mexico City has reported that while it is possible that the work of the Anglo-Mexican Claims Commission will be completed early in 1930, a further adjournment about Easter until the autumn is more probable. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative. According to Article 9 of the Anglo-Mexican Special Claims Convention, "The form in which the Mexican Government shall pay the indemnities shall be determined by both Governments after the work of the Commission has been brought to a close."
