asked the Minister of Health whether he will state the number of persons whose properties have been acquired by local authorities during the last three years upon payment of site

asked the Minister of Health what schemes relating to alleged insanitary areas have been submitted for his approval by local authorities during the past five months; and what his decision in each case, respectively has been?

value only under insanitary area schemes, and the number of persons whose businesses have been lost to them during the same period without compensation in consequence of such schemes?

Mr. GREENWOOD

Information in the form desired by the hon. Member is not available in my Department. The number of buildings of various kinds (including houses, shops, stores, ware houses, &c.) which have been acquired by local authorities during the last three years in connection with approved slum clearance schemes is approximately 6,700.

asked the Minister of Health whether he will state the number of persons who own properties in the respective areas represented by local authorities to be insanitary, schemes relating to which have been submitted to him and await his approval, and the number of persons owning businesses in such areas, respectively?

During the last five months schemes of this kind have been submitted by the Corporations of Bethnal Green, Bristol, Wandsworth and Wisbech. These schemes are still under consideration.
