HC Deb 11 November 1929 vol 231 c1549W
Mr. HACKING

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that Mr. Harold Hesketh, of 11, Lowther Terrace, Appley Bridge, was discharged from the Army with disabilities which were acknowledged by the Ministry of Pensions to be attributable to war service; that Mr. Hesketh, since discharge, has almost continuously suffered, and is still suffering, from the same disabilities, upon which he has spent considerable sums of his own private money in an attempt to effect a cure; that Mr. Hesketh is not in receipt of a disability pension and has not received compensation for the sums he has spent in his efforts to restore his health to normal; that both doctors and employers support Mr. Hesketh's claim to a pension and compensation; whether he will now acknowledge Mr. Hesketh's claims by granting him a pension and paying compensation for money spent in good faith; and, if not, will he set up an independent medical board before which Mr. Hesketh could appear, or set up any other inquiry which would give to Mr. Hesketh the opportunity of proving his claims to be fair and reasonable?
