Dr. MORGAN

asked the Minister of Labour if she will state the number of persons, specifying men, women, boys, and girls, on the Camberwell Employment Exchange for the months of July, August, September, and October, 1929, respectively?

Mr. LAWSON

The following table shows the numbers of persons on the registers of the Camberwell Employment Exchange on each Monday of the period 1st July, 1929, to 28th October, inclusive:

No applications have been received from the Camberwell Borough Council for assistance for schemes for the relief of unemployment under the Development (Loan Guarantees and Grants) Act, 1929.

Dr. MORGAN

asked the Minister of Labour whether she can state the number of claims in the Metropolitan Borough of Camberwell for unemployment benefit which were rejected in July, August and September, 1929, on the ground that the applicant was not genuinely seeking work; and the comparative figures for the three preceding quarters?

The following table shows the number of claims made at the Camberwell Employment Exchange which were disallowed in each quarter since 9th October, 1928, on the ground that the applicants were not genuinely seeking work:
