HC Deb 07 November 1929 vol 231 c1271W
Mr. SCOTT

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that there is a section of the London and North Eastern Railway Company's trunk line between Aberdeen and Edinburgh which is only single line, namely, between Montrose and Lunan Bay; that this single-line section constitutes a constant source of delays to traffic and even of dangers to passengers, at least in so far as necessitating crossing of long trains at certain stations; and whether he will take up with the railway company the building of a double line on this section as soon as possible?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

I am aware that the section of line between Inverkeilor and Montrose is only a single line. The Company inform me that the doubling of this line would be an ex pensive undertaking but that they have this question under consideration at the present time.
