HC Deb 07 November 1929 vol 231 c1289W
Dr. MORGAN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether most of the Crown Colonies now have an official wireless telegraphy service; and whether the whole cost of such services are borne by the respective colonies or whether in some cases where the installation and service are considered necessary for strategic reasons, the cost is not borne locally?

Mr. LUNN

In a large number of Colonies there are wireless stations owned and operated by the Colonial Governments. In a few Colonies there are wireless stations owned and operated by the Admiralty or the Royal Air Force. The whole cost of operating these various stations is borne by the particular authority which owns them.
