HC Deb 05 November 1929 vol 231 c843W
Mr. HARDIE

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the continued difficulties in the working of the Derating (Scotland) Act, 1928, he can say what extra costs have been incurred by his Department through obtaining legal advice; and can he state what is the sum of money, as rates, that is being withheld pending court decisions?

Mr. ADAMSON

The costs of proceeding with appeals by revenue officers in the Lands Valuation Appeal Court and of contesting appeals taken by other parties cannot at present be estimated. No information is available as to the rates which will be payable on the valuations which are the subject of appeal.
