HC Deb 05 November 1929 vol 231 cc846-7W
Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the Postmaster-General whether the Board of the heads of the principal departments set up by Mr. Kellaway when he was Postmaster-General in 1921 is still in operation; and, if not, whether, in order to promote greater efficiency in the service, he will consider that this organisation be re-established?

Mr. LEES-SMITH

The heads of the principal departments of the Post Office are in almost daily contact with each other through the medium of formal committees or informal conferences summoned to consider particular problems as they arise. In my opinion this method of co-operation is more fruitful in results and more economical in time than the procedure referred to in the hon. Member's question.
