HC Deb 05 November 1929 vol 231 cc874-5W
Mr. MANDER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the policy of the Government with regard to the establishment of an international bank?

Mr. SNOWDEN

His Majesty's Government have from the outset welcomed the proposal in the Young Plan to create the Bank for International Settlements with a view to facilitating the settlement of Germany's reparation obligations and promoting the co-opera- tion of Central Banking institutions generally. The Report of the Organisation Committee of the Bank will under the Protocol be submitted to the adjourned Hague Conference for consideration by the Governments, when the safeguards of national interests contemplated in the plan will come under review.
