HC Deb 05 November 1929 vol 231 c875W
Sir R. GOWER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, having regard to the Government's decision that the period of suspension and employment in non-effective employment by conscientious objectors in the Civil Service shall now count for pensions and increment the Government proposes to permit ex-service civil servants to reckon their military service before becoming established civil servants to similarly count for pension and increment?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

No, Sir. The Government's decision to alleviate the disabilities imposed on conscientious objectors in the Civil Service affords no ground, in my view, for adopting the suggestion referred to in the question.
