§ Sir R. GOWERasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, having regard to the Government's decision that the period of suspension and employment in non-effective employment by conscientious objectors in the Civil Service shall now count for pensions and increment the Government proposes to permit ex-service civil servants to reckon their military service before becoming established civil servants to similarly count for pension and increment?
§ Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCENo, Sir. The Government's decision to alleviate the disabilities imposed on conscientious objectors in the Civil Service affords no ground, in my view, for adopting the suggestion referred to in the question.
