HC Deb 04 November 1929 vol 231 cc652-3W
Mr. DAGGAR

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that a considerable number of the present members of approved societies will, after the 31st of December of this year, cease to be eligible for National Health Insurance benefits unless they become insurable contributors; that such required contributions are impossible in the case of unemployed persons; and what action does he propose to take to ensure that all the benefits, medical, maternity, and old age pensions shall be provided in these cases?

Miss LAWRENCE

I would refer the hon. Member to the statement which my hon. Friend made in his speech on the Second Reading of the Widows', Orphans', and Old Age Contributory Pensions Bill, as to the steps to be taken to meet the position to which he calls attention.
