HC Deb 21 February 1929 vol 225 cc1313-4W
Major OWEN

asked the Secretary of State for War whether in the transference of the headquarters of the Imperial War Graves Commission from St. Omer to Arras, and in the establishment of its permanent staff, consideration has been given to the appointment on the staff of individuals representing the various nationalities composing the British Empire; and whether, in view of the large number of Welshmen whose graves are in France and Flanders, he will urge the Commission to appoint on the staff a Welsh-speaking Welshman?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

It has always been the policy of the Commission to include among their employés, not only in France but in all parts of the world, representatives of the different nationalities of the Empire, and several Welshmen have been appointed to the permanent staff.
