HC Deb 04 February 1929 vol 224 c1422W
Mr. DAY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India the total number of hospitals and dispensaries for females that at present exist in British India; and whether any increase has been made during the previous 12 months?

Earl WINTERTON

The total number of female hospitals and dispensaries in British India recorded in the Official Reports for 1926 was 186 with 4,522 beds available, as compared with 173 with 4,249 beds available for the previous year. These figures do not include mission and other private hospitals or beds available for women in general hospitals. No later figures have yet been received.
