HC Deb 09 December 1929 vol 233 c76W
Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies the figures for the total number of Jewish immigrants into Palestine between 1919 and 1920; and whether any of the Jewish colonies formed there are yet self-supporting?

Dr. SHIELS

I have no figures for 1919 and the early part of 1920. From 1st September, 1920, the date on which the Immigration and Travel Department of the Palestine Government was established, until 30th September, 1929, approximately 95,700 Jewish immigrants entered Palestine. I regret that I have not the necessary information to enable me to reply to the second part of the hon. and gallant Member's question.
