HC Deb 27 November 1928 vol 223 c258W
Mr. RENNIE SMITH

asked the Home Secretary (1) if he can furnish a full list, outside the textile industry, of all firms which have been granted facilities under the two-shift. system for girls and young women, together with the nature of the employment and the number employed in each case;

(2) if he can furnish a list of the textile firms which have been granted facilities under the two-shift system for girls and young women, together with the number employed in each case?

Sir V. HENDERSON

I will answer these questions together. In order to meet these and similar requests, my right hon. Friend proposes to place in the Library a list of Orders made under the Section which he will supplement at intervals of three months. The list will give the name of the firm and address of works, the industry and process or department affected, and the date of the Order. It is not possible to give the number of persons employed in each case; as I have previously explained on several occasions, the Orders do not limit the number of persons who may be employed under them.
