HC Deb 26 November 1928 vol 223 cc63-4W
Sir R. NEVILLE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many barrels of beer paid duty in each of the years 1913 to 1927, inclusive; and what was the consumption of beer per head of the estimated population for each of such years?

Mr. SAMUEL

The figures for which my hon. and learned Friend asks may be found, down to the year 1926, in Table No. 37 (pages 76–77) of the Fourteenth Report of His Majesty's Commissioners of Customs and Excise (Command Paper No. 1933) and in Table No. 124 (pages 136–137) of the Eighteenth Report (Command Paper No. 2960). For the year 1927 the figures are 20,931,791 standard barrels and 16.59 gallons per head of population.
