HC Deb 20 November 1928 vol 222 c1577W
Mr. R. MORRISON

asked the Minister of Agriculture the total annual additional sum which will be charged to the milk consumers of the Metropolitan area under the recently arranged agreement between the milk distributors and the National Farmers' Union?

Mr. GUINNESS

It has been stated that the retail price charged by distributors will be increased by 1d. per quart in the months of April and September, 1929. The consumption of milk per head per day in this country has been estimated at approximately one-third of a pint, and on this basis the additional average cost would be 10d. per head for the two months. Taking the population of Greater London at 7,810,000, this is equivalent to £325,400.
