HC Deb 20 November 1928 vol 222 c1576W
Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether arrangements have yet been made regarding Christmas leave of officers and men of His Majesty's Ship "Rodney"; and whether, seeing that His Majesty's Ship "Rodney" is a Devonport manned ship, and in view of the travelling expenses that otherwise will be incurred, be can arrange for the ship to give leave in her own manning port?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

His Majesty's Ship "Rodney" is due for docking at the end of the present month. Owing to her size it is not possible to dock the vessel at Devonport, and I regret that this operation cannot be completed in time to allow her to proceed to her manning port in time for Christmas leave. Arrangements have accordingly been made for officers and men to take leave at Portsmouth. To delay "Rodney's" leave until after docking would prevent her taking part in important exercises.
