HC Deb 15 November 1928 vol 222 c1123W
Sir J. POWER

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether a decision has now been arrived at as to the stone to be used in repairing the Houses of Parliament?

Sir V. HENDERSON

My Noble Friend the First Commissioner of Works has decided that the stone to be used in repairing the Houses of Parliament shall be drawn from Ketton and Clipsham Quarries. Selected Anston stone may also be used in certain positions for ashlar work. The proportion of stone which will be drawn from these quarries has not yet been settled, but a portion of the South front of the House of Lords is at present being repaired with Clips-ham stone.
