HC Deb 14 November 1928 vol 222 c899W
Mr. R. MORRISON

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will publish for the information of Members the instructions issued to superintendents of Employment Exchanges to give men from depressed areas preference over local men?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

I cannot publish the instructions, as it is not the practice to do so. I may say, however, that the instructions are to the effect that managers of Employment Exchanges in suitable areas should include in the submissions which they make to employers for vacancies notified or obtained a small proportion of men from the depressed areas.
