HC Deb 14 November 1928 vol 222 cc919-20W
Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that certain increases of pension under the Indian military service family scheme were suggested in a circular letter issued in June, 1927; that the delay in granting this increase is causing considerable hardship in many cases, whether he will state the causes of this delay; and whether he will take steps to hasten a decision on this subject?

Earl WINTERTON

I regret the delay in confirming the increases to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers, but as was indicated to the subscribers in the circular issued last year, this question is bound up with the adjustment between the Imperial and Indian Governments of a number of claims and counter-claims arising out of the War. A settlement has not yet been reached, but my Noble Friend is making every effort to hasten a decision.
