HC Deb 12 November 1928 vol 222 c523W
Mr. FORREST

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that all the leading producing countries in the world with the exception of England are represented at the International Motor Show which opened in Berlin on 8th November; and whether the exhibitions and fairs division of his Department will give the reason for the omission?

Mr. HACKING

I am aware that an International Motor Show opened in Berlin on 8th November, and is still in progress. I am informed that, whilst British makers of cars are not exhibiting, British manufacturers of motor cycles, engines, components and accessories are well represented. Information with regard to the exhibition was circulated by my Department to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and to the British Cycle and Motor Cycle Traders and Manufacturers' Union in February last. The question of participation is a matter for the trade themselves.
