asked the Home Secretary the reasons given for the granting of an order, under Section 2 of the Act of 1920, for the operation of the two-shift system by Messrs. W. Fletcher and Sons, Derby; Messrs. Clemesha Brothers and Birch, Limited, Leek; Containers, Limited. Newbury; the Dominion Dairy Company, Limited, Aylesbury; the British Thomson Houston Company, Limited, Chesterfield; and the number of children, young persons and women concerned?

The object in each case was to increase production in certain processes. The numbers expected to be employed under the Orders referred to were 72, 6, 26, 52 and 6 respectively of whom 12, 1, 8, 24 and 0 were young persons between 16 and 18 years of age.
