§ Mr. SHINWELLasked the Minister of Pensions the grounds of his refusal to 2080W increase the allowance of 5s. weekly awarded to Mrs. M'Dermott, 8, Johnson Terrace, Stoneyburn; and whether he is prepared to reopen the case?
§ Major TRYONThe case of Mrs. M'Dermott has been fully investigated on several occasions, the latest of which was as recently as February of this year. She is 53 years of age, her husband is still living, and, in addition, she has two able-bodied sons and three daughters to whom she should be able to look for support. In the circumstances the Ministry are unable to make a higher allowance in respect of the disabled son than the sum of 5s. weekly which is at present being paid. I am not prepared to reopen the case.
