HC Deb 24 May 1928 vol 217 cc2083-4W
Mr. DIXEY

asked the Home Secretary the names and salaries of the officials and managers employed under the Carlisle State Liquor Control Board?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

The powers, duties and properties of the Liquor Control Board were taken over by the Secretary of State in 1921, when that Board was brought to an end. I have appointed Mr. A. E. Mitchell as general manager. He is an established civil servant with a salary on the scale £850 to £1,000 plus bonus and an additional allowance of £300. There are also an assistant general manager and five heads of departments, with an appropriate complement of inspectors, clerks, etc., none of whom are established civil servants and whose names and salaries could not usefully be given.
